After a special couple of months back home in chilly East Lancs, we’re kicking off the new year in much the same fashion as we spent the last one - on the road, laden with suitcases and a growing baby. With the points on our compass set decidedly East, the first leg of our journey see’s us visit the ‘Pearl of the Orient’. I’ll be posting a few highlights daily - so stay tuned over the next week to find out more about Hong Kong and our very own voyage of discovery.
Spoonyard
HK owned, Everest inspired - what’s not to love. The first shop we wandered into this afternoon whilst exploring the Tsim Sha Tsui district. A joy to see something a little different in a world saturated with big brands. So good I bought a jacket. Bigger pockets than an American Nine-Ball table with a detachable ammunition vest - yes please.

Kowloon Park
If you’re a regular reader you’ll know I’ve a thing or two for parks - especially those in heavily built up areas. Today’s took source in the very foundations of a densely packed jungle of concrete. Flamingo’s flashed their plumage, old boys rocked Burberry and a rogue MacDonald’s concession sold 80p KitKat ice creams. Funky.

Corned Beef and Scrambled Egg Sandwich
A culinary reminder of Britain’s colonial past. These were served to homesick soldiers and curious locals in the bygone days of yesteryear. Corned beef (to which I’m partial) with fluffy scrambled eggs - served on a warm tea cake. Fusion before it became a thing - comfort food akin to pie, peas and gravy. Eccentric, outrageous, bizarre - it’ll do for me.
