Picture this it’s Sunday bliss
There’s cricket on the beach,
Some yankees from the deepest south
A tricky game to teach.
Seagulls soar and bees abound
The tide it still recedes,
When bat meets ball a thumping sound
Ice creams and dogs off leads.
Surfers frolic in the swell
Batsmen they come and go,
A salty British seaside smell
As runs they ebb and flow.
It may not be the Ashes
Or even Bondi sands,
But there are sometimes flashes
Of power, guile, quick hands.
Upon this famous coastline
Renowned for its fine links,
It’s beer, wine and sunshine
When play is stopped for drinks.

In or out?
